Today it's the turn of a sizzling Scorpio in Spain ~ Jenny Twist. She's written many novellas and a few novels, too, and is launching her first audio book. I adore her trilogy about the Mantequero, from Spanish folklore (also available in Spanish), and her book of essays ~ An Open letter to Stephen King, reviewed by me HERE
Jenny and Mr Twist
"I’m not at all sure I’m a typical Scorpio. I am certainly deep thinking and philosophical. I am fiercely loyal and can be intense, especially about history, politics, religion and plots to kill the Prime Minister. I can occasionally be dogmatic, especially when drunk." (Sounds pretty damn Scorpio to me!)
"And although I’m not at all jealous about material possessions, I am jealous in love. I hold lifelong grudges against people who have been unkind to me or those I love. If you hurt us you will never get a chance to redeem yourself." (See?!)
"But there
are three fundamental characteristics of the Scorpio that I don’t think apply
to me at all.
I’m
sensual only in the sense of I enjoy tastes and textures but I would not
describe myself as sensual in the conventional sense. Quite frankly, I’d rather
have a nice cup of tea.
I don’t
think I’m possessive at all, except in love. Even there I don’t object to
my loved ones caring about other people or doing things they enjoy which I
don’t share.
As for
possessions; when we were burgled I it didn’t bother me at all once
I checked that they hadn’t stolen my dog or Mr Twist.
To the best of my belief I have never been deliberately
cruel. I think I’m a very kind person. I only kill people in my books."
... my favourite journalist ever, the hilarious and brilliant PJ O'Rourke...
and Gone With The Wind lady herself, Margaret Mitchell

Killing the Prime Minister and holding lifelong grudges? Whoa, sounds pretty darn Scorpio to me! And what a lovely picture! Didn't know the awesome (we are not worthy) PJ O'Rourke was a Scorpio, but oh how it figures.
ReplyDeleteJenny often says what she thinks, and if anyone doesn't like it, tough ~ also very Scorpio, and it's how we became cyber-friendly! Yes, I love that photo too.
DeleteThank you so much for this, Terry. I'm really flattered to be compared to PJ O'Rourke and Margaret Mitchell. If only!
ReplyDeleteJenny xx
Ah, I'm honoured to introduce you as my first Scorpio, Jenny ~ there are 4 more! It's great fun choosing the famous ones for each person :)
DeleteInteresting insights there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading :)
DeleteHello, Eva, Might have known you'd read this! So, all my secrets are out!.

Hmmm does sound rather like a Scorpio 😊😊😊 takes one to know one 😜😜
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Thanks for reading :)
DeleteYou too, eh? Isn't it nice to know we share our sign with such fab writers?

Good looking Blog. My sign is Taurus. How can that effect my writing?
ReplyDeleteThere's a Taurus coming this Friday, Roy! :)
DeleteWe are polar signs, Roy, No wonder we get on so well!

Yes, I sort of realised when I read it through that I'm more Scorpio than I thought. Thanks for commenting, Julia. You're a star! xxx
ReplyDeleteJenny, you sound like a very nice scorpio indeed, but some of these characteristics fit the bill very well! I have three scorpios in my family, and lovely as they all are (and they really are…honest!!), they definitely have a sting in their tails. And the bit about hurting you…soooo true! Love it, love them and so nice to have learnt more about you, Jenny. A gorgeous photo of you and Mr Twist!
ReplyDeleteHello Vallypee, how nice to meet you. And what kind things to say! I think I may change my twitter and FB photo. Everyone seems to like this one better!
ReplyDeleteLove Jenny xx
Brilliant! Loved the 'killing the prime minister' line, and checking the dog was still there. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Shelley
DeleteThanks so much for commenting. You're a star!
xxxx
My mother and son are scorpios and that list you have up there T pretty much sums them up! I can certainly see much of them in what you have written here Jenny :-)
ReplyDeleteHI Georgia
DeleteThanks so much for commenting. I really appreciate it.
It seems we Scorpios have a lot in common. Give them my love
Jenny

What a great post! Sounds like you are complex and quite a few of the other scorpio traits mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me...I'm completely ignorant when it comes to this astrology stuff, so here's my question. I have two sisters, born on the same day at close to the same time. They are polar opposites. Honestly, you couldn't find two more different people. One is ambitious, intellectual, politically conservative, highly literate, several advanced degrees, peacemaker for any group she's in, and mother of three. The other is a politically radical lesbian, hasn't read a book for entertainment since college, also advanced degrees, childless, shit-stirrer, middle school coach. (Both scorpios, BTW) How do you account for the differences?
Hi Barbtaub
DeleteTheoretically they should be much more alike than this, not just astrologically speaking, but genetically. Are they identical or fraternal? I've always been fascinated by twins. I must say, of those I've known well, that they have been very similar in personality. I'm just wondering if maybe one of your sisters was swapped at birth!
Thanks for this. It gives us all food for thought.
Love Jenny
xx
I'll dive in here, if I may.... right. You could have a politically radical lesbian and a fifties type wife and mother who are both determined, confident in their opinions, or intense, jealous, or stubborn, or independent, whatever ~ sounds like your sisters are both intense and passionate about what they believe in, deep thinking, philosophical, etc etc... I'd say they sound pretty similar. Over to you, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteMy dear Mrs Twist,
ReplyDeleteI never had you down as a Scorpio, which is odd considering all the most important and influential people in my life have always been Scorpios, and I count you as one of those.
When I think about the birth sign, the little story about the scorpion and fish always comes to mind. That little beast was selfish to the end, but you are the most generous person I know.
And your books are truly wonderful.
My Darling Manic
DeleteWhat a totally wonderful thing to say! I was feeling rather down this morning and your lovely comment cheered me up no end.
I would like you to know that the feeling is mutual. I couldn't imagine not having your help and support. And you know that I think your books are truly wonderful too.
Love you bucketsful

ReplyDeleteHi KJ, what a pleasure to meet you! I think I need more Scorpio friends. And thanks for the lovely comment. Love, Jenny xxx
