Coming Soon... a new book! #CoverReveal

It's been about a year since I last published; there was me thinking I was going to knock this one out really quickly, but I'd reckoned without all that 'life' stuff that you have to do as well as writing.😏

The Idea

I've written eight-and-a-bit stories on the subject of revenge and its various aspects.  I felt like writing some shorter fiction, so they're all novellas, of around 20-30k words each.  Two are finished, two are being worked on, and four-and-a-bit are still in first draft.

I shall publish them in four books of two stories each (or more, if the 'and-a-bit' grows, or if I get some more ideas!)

These are they:

1. Served Cold

2. Karma

3. Two Graves

4. Divine Retribution

...and here is Served Cold, coming to Amazon soon!

Publication date: September 28th latest.

First draft of the blurb

'Revenge is a dish best served cold'

Two novellas in which vengeance is planned long after emotions have cooled ... these are calculated, deliberate acts of retribution, designed for catastrophic effect.

The Steal

Jodie Tarrant has it all - her own small business, a husband she adores, lots of friends, a house she loves in a cosy English village.  She can see her and Kirk's future all mapped out, with the children she longs for - until the arrival of an enigmatic stranger threatens everything Jodie holds dear.

Lucky Star

Imagine waking up in a strange room, in a strange building, with no recollection of how you got there.  This is what happens to Stevie Warren.  Worst of all, she soon discovers that she can't leave.  But who put her there, and why?  Deep down, she has her suspicions...

Book #2 of this series will be Karma - when life takes its own revenge.

Cover Reveal #2

 ~ 📚📚📚 ~

A couple of months back I posted the cover and blurb for Book #1 of my new apocalyptic series: INFECTED.

The post is HERE if you didn't see it and would like to.

My plan is to publish the first two books together - I have decided on a publication date of June 25th.  Without further ado, here is the cover for Book #2!

Infected will be priced at 0.99, permanently, while Darkness will be 0.99 for the first week, after which it will be £1.99 (or equivalent).

Book #3 is in progress, but I will publish both Infected and Darkness within two or three weeks - cross fingers and touch wood, as usual!

Coming soon - Book #1 of my new series #CoverReveal #TuesdayBookBlog

Good morning, and here is an update!

Plan is to publish Infected on June 25th, and Book #2, Darkness on the same day or very shortly afterwards.

Infected will be just 99p or equivalent, permanently, whereas Darkness will be the same price for the first week, after which it will be on sale for my usual price of £1.99.

~ The Blurb ~

'Every time someone gets bitten, that's one more of them and one less of us.'

SFV-1: a virulent virus that sends its hosts into a state of extreme rage and ravenous hunger.  When it attacks the UK, 127 people are infected within the first hour.

London wife and mother Cat is taking part in TV reality show Year Out, on a remote Scottish island.   Her world turns dark when the TV crew fail to arrive for the monthly health check—her one lifeline to her family is now broken.

Completely absorbed in the commission of a lifetime, artist Norah ignores what is taking place outside the safety of her studio, until the virus reaches her hometown and a shocking event jolts her back into reality.

Lion, a stressed out marketing consultant, is enjoying a month away from his hectic online life in northern Cumbria when he encounters a worrying sight in a nearby village.  Is it some kind of zombie?  It can't be, can it?

The books are shorter than my usual novels; my other publications are all around 90-105k words, but Infected is 53K and Darkness around 62k.  Book #3, Reset, is my current work-in-progress, still on the first draft. Though a continuing story, each part depicts distinct phases in the characters' lives, and I will provide a 'story so far' piece in Books #2 and #3, as I always do.

(....the sequel to Tipping Point ~ click book title for Amazon link).

 Lindisfarne is now live!
Universal link: Amazon

Vicky and her group reach the beautiful, tidal island ~
but will it be the safe haven they expect?
(see blurb below)

Genres:
Post Apocalyptic, Dystopian, mild Sci-Fi,
Government Conspiracy, some Romantic Suspense.

  • Lindisfarne is Book #2 in the Project Renova series.
  • A collection of related short stories, entitled Patient Zero, will be out November.  Click HERE to read Aaron: #NewWorldProblems.
  • The next novel in the series, working title UK2, is due in mid 2018.

 ~Lindisfarne ~

'You're judging this by the standards of the old world.  But that's gone.  We don't live there anymore.'

Six months after the viral outbreak, civilised society in the UK has broken down.  Vicky and her group travel to the Northumbrian island of Lindisfarne, where they are welcomed by an existing community.

New relationships are formed, old ones renewed.  The lucky survivors adapt, finding strength they didn't know they possessed, but the honeymoon period does not last long.  Some cannot accept that the rules have changed, and, for just a few, the opportunity to seize power is too great to pass up.  Egos clash, and the islanders soon discover that there are greater dangers than not having enough to eat.

Meanwhile, in the south, Doyle discovers that rebuilding is taking place in the middle of the devastated countryside.  He comes face to face with Alex Verlander from Renova Workforce Liaison, who makes him an offer he can't refuse.  But is UK 2.0 a world in which he will want to live?

Writer Sue Vincent has posted about a recent visit to the island (with lots of lovely pictures!) HERE

Tipping Point: coming your way on August 7th!

"I didn't know danger was floating behind us on the breeze as we walked along the beach, seeping in through the windows of our picture postcard life."

Tipping Point ~ out 7th August
Click here to see it on Goodreads

  The facts:
  • Genre: Post apocalyptic, family drama, romantic relationships, dystopian, with a background thread of government conspiracy.  As with all my novels, it's very much a character-driven book.
  • Length: Around 90K words, ie, roughly the same length as The Devil You Know but shorter than The House of York, and Kings and Queens and Last Child.
  • Setting: The fictional Norfolk seaside town of Shipden (based on Cromer), and a fictional village in Tyne and Wear, Elmfield (loosely based on Monkton Village, near Jarrow).
  • Main Characters: 34 year old Vicky Keating and her 16 year-old daughter, Lottie.  Her long-term partner, Dex.  Friends Kara and Phil, and Heath and his teenage son, Jackson.

The blurb
The year is 2024.  A new social networking site bursts onto the scene.  Private Life promises total privacy, with freebies and financial incentives for all.  Across the world, a record number of users sign up.

A deadly virus is discovered in a little known African province, and it's spreading—fast.  The UK announces a countrywide vaccination programme.  Members of undercover group Unicorn believe that the disease is man-made, and the public are being fed lies driven by a vast conspiracy.

Vicky Keating's boyfriend, Dex, is working for Unicorn over two hundred miles away when the first UK outbreak of the virus is detected in her hometown of Shipden, on the Norfolk coast.  The town is quarantined under military lockdown, and, despite official 'no need to panic' claims, within days the virus is out of control.

In London, government employee Travis is working on a bulk data analysis project when he begins to question its purpose, while in Newcastle there are scores to be settled...

Sequel Lindisfarne is set on the island of the same name (click link for pictures) and will be out in September.  An outtake short story collection, Patient Zero, is planned for around Christmas, with Book 3 out in mid 2018.

Best Seller: my new book ~ that's the title, btw, but one can hope :)

So there I was, just writing the first couple of chapters of the first draft of the sequel to The House of York, when this idea popped into my head for a novella. I scribbled down a few notes for looking back at later, but then thought, perhaps I could just write the first chapter now... three months later, I'd written Best Seller ~ the tale of three writers :)

The Blurb in progress:

Three women, one dream: to become a successful author.

Eden Taylor has made it—big time.  A twenty-three year old with model girl looks and a book deal with a major publisher, she's outselling the established names in her field and is fast becoming the darling of the media.

Becky Hunter has money problems.  Can she earn enough from her light-hearted romance novels to counteract boyfriend Alex's extravagant spending habits, before their life collapses around them?

Hard up factory worker Jan Chilver sees writing as an escape from her troubled, lonely life.  She is offered a lifeline—but fails to read the small print...

In the competitive world of publishing, success can be merely a matter of who you know—and how ruthless you are prepared to be to get there.

BEST SELLER is a novella of 40k words (roughly half as long as an average length novel), a slightly dark, slightly edgy drama with a twist or three in the tale.  Enjoy!

....well, it's back from its first test/proofread, and was given the thumbs up  - PHEW!!!  I hope it will be out around mid March, all going well, fingers crossed and wood touched :)  Now for the second proof/test reader....

Meanwhile, it's back to Elodie, the sequel to The House of York!
